Eglesbrech Brewing Company started brewing in 2000 and is directly attached to the
Elgesbrech Bar, part of the Behind The Wall (BTW) Bar/Cafe establishment in
Falkirk which opened in 1985. The name comes from the Gaelic "eaglais
bhrec" which means speckled kirk and was an early name for Falkirk.
The complex was built in a former Playtex bra factory.
The small five-barrel microbrewery is housed in a former theatre attached to BTW and was pulled together with assistance from Bruce Williams of Heather Ale/Craigmill Brewery fame. Brewing is carried out by Scott Robertson and Alan Falconer currently about once per week. The company has tentative plans to add bottle products to its portfolio through contract with the Forth Brewery in Alloa.
Eglesbrech beers are available at the Eglesbrech Bar and Behind The Wall Bar, the Comma Bar at 14 Lint Riggs also in Falkirk and at the Ginger Bar at 61 King Street in Stirling.
