Inveralmond Brewery Limited
The Inveralmond Brewery was established in Perth in 1997 and opened that
May. Much like that of Fyfe in Kirkcaldy, Inveralmond was the first
brewery in Perth to begin operation in over thirty years. The brewery was
founded by head brewer Fergus Clark, who hails from Glasgow, and his wife
Ailish, a native of Perth. Fergus holds a B.S.c in Brewing and Microbiology
from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh and worked for ten years in the industry at
various breweries in England prior to starting Inveralmond. Fergus is
assisted by Ken Duncan who gained his brewing experience in Australia before
returning home to Scotland.
Brewing takes place in a modern industrial estate to the north of Perth and houses a 10-barrel plant of stainless steel equipment, a mix of new and second-hand. Around 20 barrels are produced weekly in cask format accounting for some 90 per cent of Inveralmond's business.
About 150 outlets are supplied directly by the brewery and wholesalers see to supplying other pubs throughout the U.K. Inveralmond also produces some special house ales for a couple of pubs.
