Currently resident above the popular Harbour Bar at Kirkcaldy in Fife,
the Fyfe Brewing Company is the first brewery to begin operation in Fife in
over seventy years. Husband and wife partnership Nick and Gillie Bromfield
opened the brewery in May, 1995. In recent years, Fyfe was one of three
breweries in the Kirkcaldy area but is the only to remain in business.
Nick acquired the services of consultant Graham Moss to get him going in brewing as he had extensive experienced in the licensed trade but no previous brewing knowledge. The current brewing setup is a two-and-a-half barrel plant with a weekly capacity of ten barrels.
In addition to his running products, Nick frequently brews special batches. Fyfe serves its ales primarily at the Harbour Bar and other local outlets but casks are available through wholesalers vastly expanding the customer base. It is hoped that the brewing operations can be moved to a larger space in the not too distant future.
